ABOUT BNEI BONIM

A closer look at Bnei Bonim

What is Yichus?

Our nation is built on our yichus, and the pure mesorah that is handed down from generation to generation across millennia and continents. The bond between parents and their descendants is what keeps our nation connected as one to Hashem.

It is no coincidence that the Torah establishes the yichus of our nation as one of the essential tenets of Yiddishkeit. As the Pasuk teaches us in regards to each of the 12 Shevatim (Bamidbar 1.18) ‘and they registered themselves by their families according to their fathers’ house.’

What is my family yichus?

If you are among those who know the answer to this question, you are from the fortunate ones. Not everyone knows it. There are some families who may know with confidence that they descend from a certain tzaddik or gadol, but are uncertain about the exact chain of genealogy and related details.

If they want to discover more, where do they even get started?

The Bnei Bonim Revolution

Bnei Bonim presents a new breakthrough in this domain!

A sophisticated platform has been developed upon which any individual can seamlessly discover and build his own family yichus tree, becoming intimately familiar with his origins and sharing it with his extended family.

The platform’s many tools allow users to enter their yichus and thereby find who else is part of their family across many many generations. Every family member will then have the ability to see from whom they hail and how.

Bnei Bonim also allows individuals and families to design and publish their very own yichus tree in various formats and templates so that this information remains for posterity.

THE BNEI BONIM BACKSTORY

The Bnei Bonim project was founded to continue operating in the footsteps of Harav Hakodosh Reb Naftuli Halberstam ZT”L, of Sanz, successor of the holy Sanzer dynasty, directly descended from the venerable Divrei Chaim of Sanz. This yichus motivated him to dig deep and develop a comprehensive yichus database surrounding his legendary family. The Rebbe wrote in his final will about how he was torn from his family and expressed his deep desire to keep that ancestral connection intact, fulfilling a holy mission to keep Am Yisrael authentically connected to their historical and religious origins, purely, without mixing with assimilation.

Harav Hakudosh M’Tzanz

Seeing the growing void of information in this space, and how ever more the chain of yichus of our most prominent families is being slowly forgotten, the Rebbe threw himself with all his energy to address this unfortunate phenomenon. It led him to establish the world-renowned World Jewish Genealogy Institution, Know as Mechon Yochsin to which he devoted from his most precious time and into which he poured in millions of dollars. He wouldn’t rest until every Yid could learn and connect to where he comes from.

Assisting him as the right hand in this project was his son, the current Rebbe of Sanz, Harav Hatzadik Reb Baruch Shlita, who dedicated years of research to build Klal Yisroel’s yichus database, an unprecedented and unmatched collection in our nation’s history.

Today, this ambitious mission continues with the establishment of Bnei Bonim, a standalone undertaking founded with the goal of ensuring that every Yid knows their yichus and where exactly they hail from.

At the same time, the work that the tzaddik began at Mechon Yochsin continues and advances into the future.
